How Do You Get Selected As A Validator Candidate Within The DMD Diamond Ecosystem? — DMD Diamond

At the start of every epoch (12 hours), 25 validators are fairly and randomly selected as part of an active set within the DMD Diamond ecosystem. This is achieved through our unique implementation of HBBFT consensus and POSDAO election validation mechanism. Validators are responsible for validating transactions, proposing and confirming new blocks.

For you to be considered as a validator candidate, you must have passed the eligibility requirements. This include setting up your DMDv4 node with appropriate HBBFT and POSDAO extensions, configuring your validator node with continuous uptime (24/7) and a static IP address, configuring your wallet custom network, and finally navigating through the Diamond-UI DApp (which forms the central point of interaction between our users and DMD Diamond blockchain) for collateral staking of a minimum of 10, 000 DMD Diamond coins, while looking forward to get selected as part of active set and get a portion of epoch rewards at the end.

How do you now get selected as a validator candidate within the DMD Diamond ecosystem in each epoch? A validator candidate is selected based on the following criterias:

  1. Stake Amount: Candidates with higher stakes of DMD Diamond coins are prioritized, as larger stakes indicate a greater interest and commitment to the network.
  2. Randomization: To maintain decentralization and fairness, a random element is introduced (one of our ecosystem’s industry-first use-cases due to HBBFT implementation), preventing the same high-stake nodes from frequently being selected.
  3. Pool Size Limitation: A single validator’s pool (its stake and delegations combined) cannot exceed 50,000 DMD, ensuring a level playing field for smaller DMD Diamond ecosystem’s participants.
  4. Validator Trust Score: Your trust score level (visible on your profile on the Diamond-UI) also influences your selection to be a validator. Higher trust score level is dependent on constant node running, without any connectivity issue reports by other validators, which might lead to score loss. You gain points as Trust Score when you are a valid candidate, waiting for being elected as a validator candidate. As your trust score increases over time while on standby to be elected as part of the active validator set, you have more chances to get selected as a validator candidate in subsequent epoch rounds.
